Switching Channels

This 1988 comedy film is a cable television newsroom-based retelling of newspaper-based 1928 play The Front Page, the 1931 film of the same name and the 1940 film His Girl Friday, starring Kathleen Turner as Christy Colleran and Burt Reynolds as John L. "Sully" Sullivan IV. In this fast-paced screwball comedy, Christy returns to Chicago with her new lover Blaine Bingham after a vacation, only to be reunited with Sully, who orders his junior reporter Siegenthaler to buy up all available transportation tickets out of town in an attempt to keep Christy from leaving him. The story unfolds into a series of comedic misadventures as Christy helps the imprisoned Ike Roscoe escape and clears his name through her quick thinking.
