Cold in July

In 1989 Texas, Richard Dane (Michael C. Hall) shoots and kills a burglar, Freddy Russel, in his home, whose father, Ben (Sam Shepard), seeks revenge when he rolls into town. After a private investigator, Jim Bob Luke (Don Johnson), arrives, the family is put under police protection, but they soon discover that Ben was hiding in their house's crawlspace and was involved in a snuff film featuring Freddy as the main subject. As they try to uncover the truth about Freddy's identity and his connection to the Dixie Mafia, Richard, Jim, and Ben are drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse with Freddy and his associates, leading to a violent confrontation that changes their lives forever.
