The film follows MercyMe's lead singer Bart Millard as he navigates fame and a complicated past with his son Sam. When hopeful newcomer Tim Timmons joins the band for their biggest tour yet, Bart is forced to confront his own hardships and repair relationships with his son and wife Shannon. As they tour, Bart forms an unlikely friendship with Tim, who carries secrets of his own, including a cancer diagnosis.
