In "Anacoreta", a group of friends embark on a weekend getaway to an isolated cabin in the woods, aiming to film an experimental horror movie that will leave viewers shivering. However, as they delve deeper into their project, the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur, revealing a sinister presence lurking just beyond the edge of frame. A meta-infused found-footage horror film that self-consciously nods to classic tropes, "Anacoreta" ultimately falls short in delivering genuine scares due to its overreliance on its own narrative gimmickry.
