Based on the works and person of US poet Charles Bukowski, including the short story The Most Beautiful Woman in Town, Italian director Marco Ferreri brings to life a meandering tale of sex, booze, and self-destruction in 1980s Los Angeles. Poet/lecturer Charles Serking awakens from his alcoholic haze long enough to take a bus back to L.A. and plunge into an orgy of drink and sexual depravity, only to be met with devastating loss and eventual catharsis on the California coast. With its unapologetic surrealism and exploration of artistic expression, Tales of Ordinary Madness is a film about the darker side of creative abandon.
