During the Battle of France in May 1940, the French Army's 7th Transmission Company is lost and captured by German forces. Three scouts, Staff Sergeant Chaudard (Pierre Mondy), Soldat Pithiviers (Jean Lefebvre), and Soldat Tassin (Aldo Maccione), escape and must use a stolen truck to break through the German lines to reach their stranded troops. Along the way, they outsmart enemy forces, rescue a fellow soldier, and eventually lead a daring escape in June 1944, when they are parachuted into France by Lieutenant Duvauchel (Érik Colin).
