The Foster Boy

In 1955 Switzerland, a young orphan named Max is sent to live and work on a farm as a foster child. Despite his passion for playing the accordion, he faces cruelty from his foster parents' son and abuse at the hands of his teacher's brother. As Berteli, another Verdingkinder, suffers in silence, their friendship becomes a beacon of hope in a desperate situation. In the end, Max finds solace in Argentina, where he becomes a successful musician, playing to an audience and leaving behind a legacy for the girl who inspired him to survive against all odds.
