SGaawaay K'uuna

Edge of the Knife (SGaawaay K'uuna) is a 2018 Canadian drama film directed by Gwaai Edenshaw and Helen Haig-Brown. The movie tells the classic Haida story of a traumatized and stranded man transformed into Gaagiixiid, the wildman. Tyler York plays Adiits'ii, a charming nobleman who causes an accident that leads to his transformation into Gaagiixiid. In 19th-century Haida Gwaii, Adiits'ii is tormented by what he has done and spirals into insanity, becoming Gaagiixiid, a supernatural being crazed by hunger. The film was created primarily by indigenous people, including the co-directors, an amateur crew, and the Haida cast, who were taught to speak Haida during filming.
