In the early eighteenth century, Sir Chauncey Savage's life takes a turn for the absurd. His marriage to Lady Savage leads him to rise through the ranks of society, but he quickly becomes mired in debt and scandal when a pox outbreak and Jacobite uprising force his family to host the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. As chaos erupts around them, Chauncey's household staff - including his factotum Halifax and chambermaid Dorothy Neville - become embroiled in a web of deceit, betrayal, and bloodshed that threatens to destroy everything. With its darkly comedic tone and outrageous characters, Savage House is a wickedly funny satire of 18th century English society.
