Brigitte Bardot plays Jill, a young French woman who achieves fame as a movie star and must navigate the relentless attention of fans, but finds solace in the protection of Marcello Mastroianni's character, Fabio Rinaldi, an Italian magazine editor and theater director. As Jill struggles to cope with the price of her fame, she turns to modeling and acting, only to be torn between her desire for solitude and the constant scrutiny of paparazzi, including Dirk Sanders' character, Dick, her ballet instructor.
