One Terrible Day

Wealthy Mrs. Pennington Van Renssalaer, a publicity-minded society matron, sponsors a children's outing to a rival socialite's gathering of "settlement children" for a "lawn fete". Five boys, including Mickey Daniels, Jack Davis, a tall boy wearing glasses and having a snobbish attitude, and the twins Winston and Weston Doty, show up at her house with their invitations. When Alvira, Mrs. Van Renssalaer's secretary, tells Jackie that he cannot come because he does not have an invitation, Jackie's dog chases her down the street. The misadventures continue as the group arrives at a country estate, where the boys play, get into mischief, and are eventually joined by Peggy Cartwright, who teaches them about the difference between a cow and a bull. The outing ends in chaos, with a blown-out tire, a stolen pearl necklace, and a monkey causing mayhem.
