Triumph of the Heart

The film "Triumph of the Heart" (2025) tells the true story of St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish Catholic priest who volunteered to die in place of another man in Auschwitz during World War II. Marcin Kwaśny stars as Maximilian Kolbe, a character central to the story. As the last prisoner is beaten to death, Kolbe steps forward to take his place in an underground cell, where he joins with others in song before slowly succumbing to starvation and dehydration.
