Inat Hikayeleri

In the small town of Çıldır in Ardahan, Turkey, a filmmaker, Reis Çelik, and actor Tuncel Kurtiz, accompanied by local villagers and amateur actors, created a 2003 documentary film called "İnat Hikayeleri". The film tells the story of rivalry between two forms of winter transport: the horse-drawn sleigh and the red minibus, as well as other tales of intransigence in the region. The race between the sleigh and the minibus becomes a metaphor for the intransigence, with Tuncel Kurtiz's character claiming the minibus can beat its rival by using the frozen lake as a shortcut. The story is accompanied by local folklore and stories of aşıklar, or lovers, who are woven into the narrative.
