In this early zombie film, Dr. Peter Blood returns to his Cornish village after being thrown out of medical school and sets up a laboratory in a secluded cave, using kidnapped humans as subjects for his twisted experiments. Using their body parts, specifically the living hearts of "undeserving" people, he attempts to revive the dead and create life in those who "deserve" to live. Released in 1961, the film is notable for being one of the first two zombie films shot in color, and its portrayal of zombies as homicidal rotting cadavers predates modern interpretations.
