Woman Walks Ahead

Catherine Weldon (Jessica Chastain), a headstrong New York widow, travels west to meet Sioux chief Sitting Bull, facing off with an army officer intent on war with Native Americans. On her journey, she meets Sitting Bull's nephew, who becomes her ally, and General Crook, whose motives are unclear. As Catherine attempts to paint Sitting Bull's portrait, she discovers the depths of his wisdom and spiritual connection to the land, while also navigating the treacherous politics of the time.
