In a remote Philippine barrio, 1972, an eerie silence shatters as wails echo from the forest, and livestock are brutally slaughtered. As Martial Law is declared by President Ferdinand Marcos, the village becomes a battleground, with the arrival of military forces heightening tensions. The film "From What Is Before" masterfully weaves together a complex narrative that explores the darker aspects of human nature, set against the backdrop of one of Philippines' most tumultuous periods.
