Bilal: A New Breed of Hero

Bilal lives a peaceful life with his mother and younger sister on the outskirts of a village until Byzantine soldiers enslave them and kill his mother. He is sold as a slave to Umayyah, one of the Quraysh's leaders, who is also one of the richest men in Mecca. Bilal befriends Okba, another Quraysh leader, and meets a mysterious charlatan priest. After saving Ghufaira, Bilal is whipped by Umayyah for intervening, but eventually becomes friends with Saad, a skilled archer. He leaves his master's mansion to save a hungry boy from the guards, showing kindness and compassion. Bilal learns about one God from Abu Bakr, who believes in equality for everyone. Umayyah torments Bilal by making him sing at night and then questioning him about the new movement opposing them. Safwan accuses Bilal of being part of the movement, leading to his torture. Abu Bakr buys Bilal's freedom, teaching him how to fight with a sword. After the migration to Medina, Bilal reunites with Ghufaira and helps escape her execution. In a battle between Umayyah's merchants and the new movement, Bilal kills Umayyah, ending the war for peace.
