Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran

Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran tells the true story of India's second confidential nuclear test series at Pokhran, led by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam during PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's tenure. John Abraham stars as Capt. Ashwat Raina, an IAS officer from the Research and Analysis Wing who suggests a retaliatory nuclear test against China but is ridiculed and scapegoated when the test goes ahead without his involvement. Three years later, Raina is approached by new PMO secretary Himanshu Shukla (Boman Irani) to lead a team of scientists in conducting the test, with Captain Ambalika Bandyopadhyay (Diana Penty) joining as part of the team. The film follows their efforts to successfully conduct the nuclear tests and make India an established nuclear state.
