An orphan boy named Jo (Ryan Potter) finds family and purpose with newly arrived doctor Doc (Matt Dillon), who hires him to run medicine to coffee pickers in Hawaii's mountainous region. As a young Native Hawaiian man from mixed ancestry, Jo blossoms into romance with plantation owner Grace Danielson (Olivia Ritchie).
