Pad Man

Lakshmikant "Lakshmi" Chauhan (Akshay Kumar), a devoted husband and father, is deeply concerned when his wife Gayatri (Radhika Apte) uses an unhygienic rag during her menstrual periods. Undeterred, Lakshmi buys sanitary pads for his wife, but they are too expensive. Inspired by his quick thinking in saving a injured worker's life, he makes a temporary pad and shares it with a female medical student, who helps him refine the design. As Lakshmi continues to work on his invention, he faces ridicule from his village and struggles to gain acceptance for his low-cost sanitary pads, which eventually become a game-changer in rural India, earning him recognition at the United Nations and the Padma Shri award.
