Everyone's Hero

In 1932 New York City during the Great Depression, Yankee Irving, a 10-year-old baseball fan, finds a talking baseball named Screwie. A thief disguised as a security guard steals Babe Ruth's "lucky" bat, Darlin', and Yankee sets out to reclaim it. Along the way, he teams up with others who help him on his quest, including hobos, a girl and her father, and even Babe Ruth himself. In the end, Yankee uses his newfound skills and confidence to lead the New York Yankees to victory in the World Series, clearing his family's name and proving that it's not the bat, but the batter that makes all the difference.
