Patton

"Patton" tells the tale of General George S. Patton, famous tank commander of World War II, whose career in North Africa progresses through the invasion of Germany and the fall of the Third Reich, as he reorganizes a defeated corps and imposes strict discipline, leading to redemption at the Battle of El Guettar. Frustrated by perceived British monopolization of the Allied effort, Patton takes charge, pushes northwest, taking Palermo, and sparks public outrage with his candid comments about American politics. After being sidelined for the Allied invasion of France, Patton reports to Omar Bradley and leads the Third Army across France before a series of controversies lead to his eventual relief from command. In the film's closing sequence, Patton reflects on the fleeting nature of glory in military conquest.
