Mickey Rourke plays intelligent and sociopathic convict Michael Bosworth who escapes custody in Salt Lake City and meets up with his brother Wally (Elias Koteas) and their collaborator Albert (David Morse). They need a place to hide out until Bosworth's defense lawyer, Nancy Breyers (Kelly Lynch), can catch up with them. The group randomly chooses the Cornell's abode in the suburbs due to its "For Sale" sign, which is seemingly picked by Bosworth at random.
