"A Raisin in the Sun" is a 1961 American drama film that follows an African-American family's struggle for better life and opportunities away from Chicago's racial segregation. The family, led by matriarch Lena Younger (Claudia McNeil), awaits a $10,000 insurance check, each with their own ideas about how to use it. As they navigate the complexities of racism, sexism, and financial insecurity, Walter Lee Younger (Sidney Poitier) must confront his own ambitions and the family's collective future.
