The Smiling Madame Beudet

Germaine Dermoz stars as Madame Beudet, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage, as she devises a scheme to get rid of her husband. She puts a bullet into his revolver so that when he points it at himself in anger, the bullet will accidentally go off and kill him. However, on this particular day, Monsieur Beudet finds the gun not empty, but loaded with the bullet Madame Beudet had placed there, resulting in a tragic outcome where Monsieur Beudet mistakenly believes his wife was trying to commit suicide.
