District 9

In an alternate 1982, a spaceship carrying millions of dying, insectoid and crustacean-like aliens hovers over Johannesburg, South Africa, where they are forced to flee by the government, leading to the establishment of District 9, a ghetto and shanty town that becomes a symbol of xenophobia and social segregation. Thirty years later, an MNU executive, Wikus van de Merwe, is exposed to alien technology after a traumatic encounter, which slowly transforms him into one of the very creatures he once hunted, setting off a chain of events as he seeks refuge in District 9.
