Natsamrat

A veteran Shakespearean actor steps off the stage and into the painful tragedy of old age, facing ungrateful family and his fleeting legacy. Based on a play of the same name written by playwright Kusumagraj (V. V. Shirwadkar), this Marathi drama film depicts the tragic family life of a stage actor who has retired from acting but is unable to forget his fond memories of theatre and the stage. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the film won several awards for its portrayal of angst and outstanding performances, including Best Actor for Nana Patekar and Best Supporting Actor for Vikram Gokhale.
