In 984 A.D., the knight Sir Bowen mentors Prince Einon in the Old Code hoping he'll grow to be a chivalrous ruler. However, after a brutal father's death and Einon's heart is saved by a dragon, he becomes a cruel tyrant enslaving former rebels. Twelve years later, Bowen has become a skilled dragonslayer but loses faith as dragons nearly disappear; monk Brother Gilbert witnesses his prowess and follows him. Kara seeks revenge on Einon, whom she believes corrupted after receiving half of the dragon's heart that saved his life. As a result, Bowen teams up with the last dragon, Draco, to stage dragon "slayings" while trying to thwart Einon's cruelty and reclaim justice in their kingdom.
