They Shall Not Grow Old is a documentary film that brings to life the experiences of British soldiers during World War I using never-before-seen footage from the First World War held by the British Imperial War Museum. The film features 120 audio excerpts from veterans telling their war memories, with colourised and restored original footage and added sound effects and voice acting. By stripping away traditional narration and geographical details, Jackson aimed to create an immersive experience of "what it was like to be a soldier", rather than a story or recounting of events.
