"Gimme Shelter" is a harrowing chronicle of the Rolling Stones' ill-fated 1969 US tour, culminating in the disastrous Altamont Free Concert, where the generation of peace and love was brutally turned on its head. The film, directed by Albert and David Maysles and Charlotte Zwerin, captures the chaos and violence that erupted during the concert, including the infamous stabbing of Meredith Hunter by a Hells Angel.
