In 1943-45, a Vatican official named Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty risked everything to save thousands of Jews and escaped Allied POWs in Rome, defying Nazi occupation and earning a personal vendetta from SS-General Herbert Kappler. With the help of locals and clergy, O'Flaherty's underground organization provided safe haven and escape routes, thwarting the Nazis' efforts to destroy him at every turn. As the Allies began to gain ground, O'Flaherty refused to grant Kappler mercy, sparking a dramatic confrontation that would change their lives forever. In the end, Kappler was captured, imprisoned, and eventually converted to Catholicism, while O'Flaherty's bravery and selflessness were celebrated by Allied governments. 🎬 Enhanced by REEL
