In the 2002 drama film "Man on the Train", a rough-looking man named Milan arrives alone by train in a small French village, where he strikes up an unlikely friendship with a cultured retired teacher named Manesquier, who lives in a large house of his own. As they bond over their differences, Milan is introduced to music and poetry, while Manesquier learns to be tough with women and other men. The two men's improbable friendship is put to the test when each is forced to confront their own fate: Milan's life as a thief is about to take a deadly turn, while Manesquier awaits triple bypass surgery.
