In 1906, a romance novel author sets out on a new life in Oklahoma, but her journey becomes entangled in a battle over oil rights on Native American land. As cowboy Dan Somers and oilman Jim "Hunk" Gardner compete for the favor of schoolteacher Catherine Allen, their rivalry escalates into a wildcat fight. Meanwhile, President Theodore Roosevelt lends his weight to the dispute, further complicating matters.
