Kenny Rogers stars as Brady Hawkes, a gambler on a mission to reunite with his young son Jeremiah (Ronnie Scribner) and his mother Eliza (Christine Belford), who are living in Yuma with an abusive stepfather. Along the way, he teams up with Billy Montana (Bruce Boxleitner), a young poker player headed for an international tournament, and helps Jennie Reed (Lee Purcell) with a train baron.
