The film "United" tells the story of Manchester United's legendary "Busby Babes", a team that includes players such as Jimmy Murphy (David Tennant), Bobby Charlton (Jack O'Connell), and Duncan Edwards (Sam Claflin). The team experiences both success and tragedy, particularly during their 1958 European Cup campaign, when their plane crashes in Munich, killing seven of the club's players. Despite this devastating loss, the team comes together under the leadership of assistant manager Jimmy Murphy to continue playing, with Charlton eventually returning to football after a visit from his injured colleague Murphy.
