Amos Tucker and Theodore Ogelvie, a pair of bumbling holdup men now going straight, arrive in the "boom town" of Junction City to start anew, only to find themselves at the center of a chaos-filled adventure involving bank robbers, corrupt officials, and their own ineptitude. As they try to make it on their own, Amos and Theodore get caught up in an army supply theft case that leads them to enlist in the United States Cavalry, with hilariously disastrous results. With the help of unlikely allies, including a charming southern belle and an army intelligence officer, they must outsmart crooks, avoid capture, and find their way back to straight-laced life.
