Jack Elam
Biography
Jack Elam was born William Scott Elam on November 13, 1920, in Miami, Arizona, to Millard and Alice Amelia Kerby Elam. He worked in the cotton fields as a child and later served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, before becoming an accountant and manager of the Bel Air Hotel. His distinctive physical feature - a misaligned eye - became synonymous with his memorable screen personas.
