Stand-In is a 1937 American screwball comedy directed by Tay Garnett and starring Leslie Howard, Joan Blondell, and Humphrey Bogart. The film satirizes the film industry during the classical Hollywood era, following Atterbury Dodd (Leslie Howard), an east coast efficiency expert who takes over a financially troubled studio in Hollywood. With the help of his cheerful secretary Lester Plum (Joan Blondell) and producer Doug Quintain (Humphrey Bogart), Dodd sets out to turn the studio around despite sabotage from the star actress Thelma Cheri, eccentric director Koslofski, and press agent Tom Potts.
