Maudie Edwards

Biography

Maudie Edwards was a Welsh actress and radio broadcaster who began performing at four years old in her father's stage act, "Ned Edwards' Two Little Queenies." She gained fame as the first speaker of dialogue in the British soap opera Coronation Street and played Elsie Lappin in its inaugural episodes. A talented comedian and singer, she presented a signature tune before Welsh Rarebit radio broadcasts, which drew massive audiences.
