Dudley Digges

Biography

Dudley Digges was a renowned Irish character actor who began his career in theatre with William and Frank Fay's Irish National Dramatic Company, performing in productions such as Cathleen Ni Houlihan and Déirdre. He later transitioned to stage management under Charles Frohman and George Arliss before moving to Hollywood in 1930. Digges appeared in over 40 films, including the original version of The Maltese Falcon, and worked as a director on Broadway, founding the Maverick Theater with Hervey White in 1924.
