Chaim Topol was a renowned Israeli actor and singer, best known for his iconic portrayal of Tevye in the stage musical Fiddler on the Roof and its 1971 film adaptation, with over 3,500 stage performances between 1967 and 2009. A Golden Globe winner and Academy Award nominee, he began his acting career during Israeli army service with the Nahal entertainment troupe, going on to appear in numerous films including Flash Gordon and For Your Eyes Only.
