Biography

William Wright was a leading American actor in the 1940s, often compared to Clark Gable due to their similar careers being temporarily halted by World War II. Notably, he played Gable's part in the 1945 musical remake of It Happened One Night and took on notable roles in films like Philo Vance Returns and King of the Gamblers. Wright's filmography also includes Escape in the Fog and Impact. He died from cancer at age 38.
