Brian Jones

Biography

Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones was an English musician and founder of the Rolling Stones, a British blues outfit he formed in 1962 with guitarist Keith Richards and singer Mick Jagger. As the band's original leader, Jones developed a unique style of guitar play that influenced future musicians, but his personal struggles with alcohol and drugs led to his dismissal from the group in June 1969. He died at 27 in July 1969, and was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
