Leonard "Chico" Marx was an American comedian and film star known for his charismatic on-screen persona as a charming, uneducated con artist. As part of the Marx Brothers comedy troupe, he formed alliances with brothers Harpo and Groucho, often playing partner in crime or trying to outfox them. Born March 22, 1887, in Manhattan, New York City, Chico was one of five siblings who helped manage and develop the act's early years.
