The Cocoanuts

During the Florida land boom of the 1920s, the Marx Brothers' Hotel de Cocoanut is a resort hotel run by Groucho Marx's character Mr. Hammer, assisted by Zeppo Marx's Jamison. Harpo and Chico Marx arrive with empty luggage, planning to fill it through robbing and conning guests, while Mary Eaton plays Polly Potter, a wealthy socialite in love with struggling young architect Bob Adams, played by Oscar Shaw. As the story unfolds, wealthy Mrs. Potter wants her daughter to marry Harvey Yates, a confidence man who steals her diamond necklace, thwarting the hotel's plans and leading to slapstick comedy and musical numbers featuring Irving Berlin compositions.
