James Balog is a photographer and conservationist born on July 15, 1952, in Danville, Pennsylvania. He founded the Earth Vision Institute in Boulder, Colorado, and led the Extreme Ice Survey to document glacial melting since 2007. His work has been recognized with a U.S. Postal Service stamp commission in 1996 and an Honorary Fellowship from The Royal Photographic Society in 2024.
