When National Geographic photographer James Balog embarked on a five-year expedition to capture the impact of global warming, he set out to take pictures of climate change – and found himself staring into the abyss of glaciers. His quest led him to Greenland, Iceland, and Alaska, where he witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of rising temperatures on ancient ice caps.
