Astra Taylor

Biography

Astra Taylor is a Canadian-American documentary filmmaker and writer, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1979. She gained recognition for her 2005 film Zizek! and 2008's Examined Life, which also features her as the self. A philanthropic advocate, Taylor was awarded a fellowship by the Shuttleworth Foundation for challenging predatory debt practices. As a vegan and musician, she has written extensively and performed with Neutral Milk Hotel.
