Ann Rutherford was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to a family of performers. She made her stage debut at age 8 and went on to become a leading lady in Westerns with John Wayne and Gene Autry. Her career soared when she signed with MGM, starring in the popular Andy Hardy series alongside Mickey Rooney, including roles in "Gone with the Wind" and the classic adaptation of "A Christmas Carol".
