Dennis Franz is a retired American actor best known for his iconic role as NYPD Detective Andy Sipowicz in the hit television series NYPD Blue. His portrayal of the hard-boiled detective earned him numerous awards, including a Golden Globe Award and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Prior to NYPD Blue, Franz appeared on Hill Street Blues, where he played two distinct characters.
